Temporarily cut off my car speakers to use a headset?
I have a 2002 BMW 525IT with a standard BMW stereo system. My wife and I take long (600 miles per day) trips.
She loves to read and while driving I love to listen to the radio or a book on CD. I want to temporarily cut off the car speakers and use a headset. When we both want to listen, I disconnect the headset and return to the standard car speaker system.
Problem is, your car is equipped with a multi-channel amp, one for every speaker. Got 8 speakers, you have an 8-channel amp. 10 speakers, 10-channel amp. And since each channel is crossed over in the amp, you couldn't get a full-range signal to the headphones. You could use just midrange if you're listening to audio books. Not impossible, but you need a sharp installer to pull it off.
Headphones are illegal while driving.
