What will a basic bluetooth enabled car stereo do for me?
I would like to buy a Sony car stereo that is compatible with my mobile phone. If somebody phones me, will the phone automatically answer and end my phone call. (That is before and after the conversation.)
If I would like to make a phone call whilst driving, how will the wireless (handsfree) feature of the bluetooth facility help me?
I presume that I will be able to talk without hands through the speakers.
If somebody phones while the radio is playing, does the music cut out. Will I be informed of who is calling? Will I have the option to reject the call easily?
Is there a remote control involved?
Is this system being used succesfully. If so what are the common problems.
What could I typically expect from a middle range player? What is the difference between a top end player and a standard range?
Anybody know, where in England there are particularly knowledgable staff? Is there a particularly good branch of Halfords in South London?

I have successfully used a bluetooth cd/mp3/radio head unit that I ordered from http://maplins.com - I availed myself of their installation service.
It worked very well. To answer your questions:
Yes, it automatically mutes the radio/cd when you have an incoming call.
You need to pair your phone with the head unit - it will tell you what to do in the instruction manual.
You can set your mobile phone to auto-answer when it is paired with the bluetooth handsfree unit so you don't need to touch anything when driving. The trouble is you would have no control over who you speak to.
Alternatively, you can use the mobile as usual to answer and end calls, but it should be kept in a secure holder positioned so that you don't need to move your hand too far from the steering wheel when answering or ending calls.
Bluetooth-enabled head units usually come with a remote mic/button that can be placed near the steering wheel. The button can be used instead of the call/end buttons on the mobile handset.
A common problem is the paired head unit and phone not always automatically connecting when you get in the car - sometimes you have to do this manually from the mobile handset. This is becoming less of an issue as the mobile manufacturers and head unit manufacturers follow the bluetooth specification more closely.
The difference between entry-level and high-end units would be better sound quality, more output power, ability to play mp3s, line-in (for ipod or other mp3 players), caller ID display.
